OCP Targets, Policies and Actions for GHG Reduction Regional Workshops: Spring 2009
Under the Local Government (Green Communities) Statutes Amendment Act (Bill 27, 2008), local governments are required to include targets, policies and actions for the reduction of GHG emissions in their Official Community Plans (OCPs) by May 31, 2010.
The Ministry of Community Development has developed this series of hands-on workshops primarily for local government staff who will be involved in developing these targets, policies and actions for municipal council and regional district board consideration.
The intent of the workshops is to provide strategies, tools and resources to help you move forward with climate action. You will be encouraged to think about the realities in your own communities and to develop a clear sense of the approaches needed for your unique community to take the necessary action.
Although this workshop is focused on targets, policies and actions for OCP’s it will also be of value for local government staff developing targets, policies and actions for Regional Growth Strategies (RGSs), which are required to be in place by May 31, 2011.
