Tent Camping Homeless to Politicians: 'Face Facts!'

The city of Victoria and provincial government are fighting in court to prevent homeless people from camping in parks and city-owned property. The case stems from an incident in 2005, where an injunction against people who were camping in Cridge Park drew opposition from the homeless population and their supporters. Human rights groups, including the Pivot Legal Society and the Poverty and Human Rights Centre, are involved in the case and argue that camping in public spaces is necessary due to Victoria's inadequate shelter resources.
