2018 High Ground: Communities for all

Our work to ensure that our communities truly are “communities for all” has never been more important. One leader at a time. One citizen at a time.

While global currents surge – climate change, moral leadership on equality, a global conversation on gender and power, international trade, a rising tide of newcomers amidst ecological disruption and a changing world order – local leaders are on the front line. And grassroots movements are putting them there.

Peace and good governance – that’s the Canadian way – built on a bedrock of local leadership in our communities and public education.

Columbia Institute’s Centre for Civic Governance held High Ground 2018: Communities for All from March 23-24, 2018 at the Coast Coal Harbour Hotel. At this 26.5 hour event, we aimed to develop a deeper understanding of the issues shaping our times, network with colleagues and take away insights on opportunities to build more inclusive, sustainable communities.

About Centre for Civic Governance

The Centre for Civic Governance works to support community leadership meeting today’s social and environmental challenges: climate change, Canada’s increasing equity gap, and shifting social trends. At the Centre for Civic Governance, our goal is to strengthen Canadian communities through sharing best practices, providing tools for locally elected leaders, and progressive policy analysis. We strive to provide knowledge and information to make real and positive social change.
